Neurofascial Manipulation for the Upper Extremity with Steve Evanko (live, hands-on)

  • Seattle Clinical Massage School Fremont area 98103 (map)

Engaging the Neurofascial Matrix of the Upper Extremity (prerequisite required)

Please note that this class is currently sold out. If you would like to be placed on the waiting list, please contact us at info@pnwschool.com. If you are first on the waiting list and are willing to reserve the time off, your chances of getting in are excellent.

It may surprise you to learn that some of the hard and tender knots we've furiously been working on are actually swollen and potentially inflamed and tethered nerves. Neural mobilization skills will dramatically increase your level of results and set you apart. This class will be an introduction to working directly with the nerves and superficial fascia to restore joint mobility and decrease pain, and is based in part on concepts from JP Barral, Alain Crobier, and Don Hazen, DC.

You will learn to slow down, refine your touch of the superficial layers, and palpate and release several nerves in the shoulder, arm, lower neck, and upper back. You will learn how tethered cutaneous nerves contribute to shoulder, neck, and arm pain, and learn a set of specific techniques for release, differentiation, and repositioning of the local nerve fields. The nerves you’ll work with include: the musculocutaneous, axillary, radial, median, dorsal scapular, suprascapular, ulnar, and spinal accessory nerves. We will also discuss concepts of fibromyalgia, central sensitization and neurogenic inflammation.

Note: The prerequisite for taking this class is the 3-hour “Introduction to Neurofascial Manipulation” class. If you have not attended this introductory class previously, you will not be able to attend the class, unless you have consent of the instructor.

Please note that due to WA State law and DOH and PNWSM infection control protocols, the class will be limited to 10 students. Students will be required to submit either proof of vaccination or a negative PCR-Covid test taken at least 48 hours prior to class. You will also be required to wear masks during the class as well, except during lunch.
